Prensa Leopoldo López – (Bogotá 18.12.2020) Leopoldo López, líder político y Comisionado Presidencial del Centro de Gobierno del presidente Juan Guaidó, hizo un balance de la productiva agenda de trabajo que ha tenido durante su visita a Colombia.

López agradeció al pueblo colombiano por su solidaridad y afecto, al tiempo que hizo una lista de los encuentros, reuniones y acciones que durante los últimos días sostuvo y logró en el marco de la lucha por la libertad de Venezuela.

López se reunió con el presidente Iván Duque en varias oportunidades. En ellas agradeció el rol que ha jugado Colombia y su pueblo como soporte y apoyo del pueblo venezolano en su lucha contra la dictadura de Nicolás Maduro. De igual forma, reconoció el ánimo decidido del presidente colombiano quien, desde sus tiempos en el Senado, denunciaba internacionalmente a la dictadura venezolana por sus crímenes de lesa humanidad.

De igual forma, López se reunió con la vice presidenta Marta Lucía Ramírez y con el ministro de la defensa Carlos Holmes Trujillo, con quienes trató temas de interés para los pueblos colombiano y venezolano. En todos sus encuentros con representantes del gobierno colombiano fue común el compromiso de aumentar al máximo posible la presión nacional e internacional contra la dictadura para lograr la libertad.

En su agenda en Colombia, el contacto con la diáspora venezolana tuvo un espacio fundamental. López visitó Cúcuta, la ciudad colombiana por donde entra la mayor cantidad de migrantes venezolanos a ese país. Allí acompañó y escuchó a miles de venezolanos que, como él, se han visto obligados a abandonar su país por culpa de la dictadura. De igual forma, López se reunió con activistas de partidos políticos democráticos de Venezuela que, por la persecución de la dictadura, residen en Bogotá. A ellos les dijo que era necesario mantener la lucha para alcanzar un sueño común: regresar a Venezuela y reconstruir nuestro país.

Acompañando a miles de venezolanos, y cerca de Venezuela, López participó en la Consulta Popular impulsada por el presidente Juan Guaidó. Esta acción, apoyada por todos los partidos políticos democráticos de Venezuela, la hizo en compañía de Tomás Guanipa, embajador de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela en la República de Colombia.

Otro importante punto en la agenda de López en Colombia fue su reunión con Álvaro Uribe Vélez, ex presidente de la República. Sobre esa reunión, López manifestó que ambos se comprometieron a trabajar de manera conjunta para ponerle fin lo más pronto posible al sufrimiento del pueblo venezolano, algo que, señaló el líder político venezolano, solo será posible terminando con la dictadura.

En su último día, López se reunió con la alcaldesa de la ciudad de Bogotá, Claudia López. Con ella, en un marco de cordialidad y respeto, se planteó la necesidad de avanzar de manera concreta en una política de integración de la población venezolana migrante en Colombia y específicamente en Bogotá. La alcaldesa se comprometió en trabajar a favor de la integración de la migración venezolana con respeto y solidaridad.

Leopoldo López Press – (Bogotá 18.12.2020) Leopoldo López, political leader and Presidential Commissioner of President Juan Guaidó’s Government Center, did a balance of the productive work agenda he has held during his visit to Colombia.

López thanked the Colombian people for their solidarity and affection while making a list of the meetings, gatherings, and actions he has held and achieved during the past several days as part of the fight for Venezuela’s freedom.

López met with President Iván Duque in several opportunities. During these meetings, he thanked the role that Colombia and its people have played supporting and backing the Venezuelan people in their struggle against Nicolás Maduro’s dictatorship. Likewise, he recognized the Colombian president determination, who, since his time in the Senate, denounced the Venezuelan dictatorship internationally for its crimes against humanity.

Furthermore, López met with Vice President Marta Lucía Ramírez and Defense Minister Carlos Holmes Trujillo, with whom he discussed issues of interest to the Colombian and Venezuelan people. In all his meetings with representatives of the Colombian government, it was common to see a commitment to increase as much as possible the national and international pressure against the dictatorship to achieve freedom.

In his agenda in Colombia, contact with the Venezuelan diaspora held a considerable space. López visited Cúcuta, the Colombian city through which most Venezuelan migrants enter that country. There, he accompanied and listened to thousands of Venezuelans who, like him, were forced to leave their country because of the dictatorship. Similarly, López met with activists from democratic political parties in Venezuela who, due to the dictatorship persecutions, reside in Bogotá. He told them that it was necessary to keep fighting to achieve a common dream: to return to Venezuela and rebuild our country.

Accompanying thousands of Venezuelans, and near Venezuela, López participated in the Popular Consultation promoted by President Juan Guaidó. This action, supported by all the democratic political parties of Venezuela, was done alongside Tomás Guanipa, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Republic of Colombia.

Another important item on López’s agenda in Colombia was his meeting with Álvaro Uribe Vélez, former president. Regarding the encounter, López said that they have committed to working together to put an end as soon as possible to the suffering of the Venezuelan people. Lopez indicated, that this will only be possible by ending the dictatorship.

On his last day, Lopez met with the mayor of the city of Bogota, Claudia Lopez. With her, in a cordial and respectful atmosphere, he posed the need to advance concretely in a policy of integration of the Venezuelan migrant population in Colombia and specifically in Bogotá. The mayor committed herself to work for the integration of Venezuelan migration with respect and solidarity.
